North Craven Village Bus
The North Craven Taxibus is an eight seat minibus with space for a wheelchair. An electric ramp also makes the bus easy to board for people with mobility problems. The service is operated by Bentham Little Red Bus whose small number of regular drivers provide a friendly, personal service.
What is a flexible bus service?
Flexible bus services operate to serve customers more effectively than a scheduled bus service. Unlike a conventional bus service a flexible bus service does not operate to a fixed route or timetable. Instead, passengersmust pre-book their journeys, the route and timeswill vary according to their needs. The Taxibus will only go to a pick up point if a booking has been received, it is not possible to flag it to stop on these journeys so you must remember to book your journey.
When does it run?
The North Craven Taxibus operates a flexible bus service on Monday to Friday from 8.30 a.m to 4.30 p.m.
Where does it go?
Journeys can be made from/to anywhere within the mapped area (see leaflet). For example, you may want to catch the Taxibus from Bentham to Ingleton to get the bus to Settle, or from Clapham to Bentham to visit the market on Wednesday. Also journeys can be made to meet the trains at Clapham Station.
How do I use it?
Booking is easy, just pick up the phone and call Bentham Little Red Bus on 01524 262753 or pop into the office at Bentham Railway Station between 9.00 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. Please be sure to book by 09.00 hrs on the day of travel, or earlier if possible. If you are using a wheelchair please call 24 hours before you wish to travel to ensure thatwe can accommodate you – please leave us a message if we don’t answer.
How much will it cost?
Fares on the Taxibus are similar to local bus fares, passengers will pay the same fare for the same journey regardless of how many other passengers are on board.
For example, a journey from Bentham to Ingleton is £1.10 for a single journey. Concessionary bus passes are accepted on this service.Remember to use this service you must pre-book your journey by calling Bentham Little Red Bus on 01524 262753 and you will be advised of your pick up time. It is important that you are ready to leave at least five minutes before the pick up time as the drivers can have a very tight schedule.
