Our Members

We have two types of members here at Little Red Bus. We have individual user members who join us to access our demand responsive services and we have Network membership for other community transport operators.

Little Red Bus helps people to get around. From your door to the shops, doctors, hospital, to work, school or for a social or leisure opportunity.

If there is no other transport service that is accessible or affordable we will try to help.  It may be in an accessible mini bus, car volunteer’s car or even a full size coach.  You may need transport just for you or in a group.  We have a fleet of vehicles in varying sizes, all fully accessible. Fares are very reasonable (we try to keep them as low as possible by raising funds and delivering contracted services).  Everyone is fully trained and we offer a very high quality service which is safe and comfortable

In order to try and help as many people as possible we work with other groups to help them help other people.  Our services are mainly in North Yorkshire but we can offer services further afield.  Our office in Harrogate manages services in Harrogate District including Ripon, Knaresborough, Pateley Bridge, Bentham, Skipton, Thirsk, and the surrounding rural areas. We have shopper runs and a Travel Club which organises trips and outings available to all members.

In order to achieve efficiencies and maintain services, we are currently developing zoned route services in and around the Harrogate District. We are working with DITA and ITRACT to improve the services available to those users in rural areas.

To use services regularly you need to be a member.  The annual membership fee is £11.00.

Full network membership

  • Operators register their buses for contract service delivery within designated zones.
  • Contract journeys are scheduled for delivery on buses available within the zones
  • Operators receive the contract rate for the journeys delivered less a Network administration fee.
  • Operators commit to client responsive targets as part of the optional North Yorkshire County Council passport to funding arrangement.

Network Subscription membership

  • Operators register their buses as available for relief work during defined time periods.
  • The network engages the buses on a call on/off basis.
  • A standard call-off rate based on time and mileage charges is paid by the Network for relief use of subscribers’ buses.

Operators interested in joining the network should contact General Manager Philip Binns on

LRB@littleredbus.co.uk or 01423 724558.

This collaborative approach to transport services means we are greater than the sum of our parts. Together we can stand with other not-for profit transport operators and grow our services for mutually beneficial reasons.

Benefits of membership of the LRB network include:

  • access to contract and funding opportunities
  • use of LRB’s leading transport scheduling and route planning systems
  • funded marketing initiatives
  • raised profile in the market specialist support services
  • relief transport arrangements
  • training opportunities
